Wayfinder® Fire Resisting
Partition
A range of wide span, laterally operating rolling shutters
designed to prevent the spread of fire or maintain security between floors in
areas representing a fire risk such as shopping centres, hotels and large
commercial properties. The shutters can accommodate curves that harmonize with
building structures and allows large spaces to be protected whilst minimizing
requirements for special preparatory work. They are also designed to protect
large areas of floor space without imposing restrictions on building
design.
The shutter is mounted solely on its top track, along its entire
length: floor tracks are not required. Structural supports are minimal and
eliminate the need for unsightly vertical members.
Dimensions:
Shutter length up to 5 metres - Coil box size: 1000 x
800mm.
Shutter length 5 to 10 metres - Coil box size: 1200 x
1000mm.
Shutter length 10 to 20 metres - Coil box size: 1400 x
1100mm.
Shutter length 20 to 30 metres - Coil box size: 1600 x
1300mm.
Shutter length 30 to 35 metres - Coil box size: 1800 x
1500mm.
Standard shutter height: up to 5000mm.
Weight of curtain including
top track: 20 kg/m2 of door opening.
Coil Housing
12mm mild steel endplates with rolled steel angles to
form a frame which contains the shutter barrel, curtain, drive mechanism, motor
and control panel. Clad in suitable finishes by Client.
Curtain
105 x 1mm galvanised interlocking flat lath sections giving a
neat attractive appearance in the closed position. Each alternative lath is
secured both ends by steel end locks to drive the arrangement. Leading edge
constructed from cold rolled steel channel section fitted with bearings for
smooth operation.
Track
A cold rolled track section with mild steel side plates to form
a fire resisting section 150mm deep. 75 x 50 x 5mm angle brackets are provided
at approximately 600mm centres for fixing to a suitable structural member.
Tracks can be manufactured to suit infinite designs including curves and site
applications. Fire resistant material above the track is available on request.

Finish
The shutter curtain is supplied bright spangled galvanised. All
other components are protected by rust inhibiting primer paint. Additional
finishes, including polyester powder coating, are available on request.
Electrical
Standard voltage: 415V, 3 phase, 50 Hz. The electrical
equipment can be rated to suit the power supply available. The supply should be
provided by others and terminated in a switched isolator box next to the coil
box housing. The motor position can be handed to suit the site conditions. A
control panel is provided which is usually installed outside the coil box
housing which typically will include the following features as
standard:
Open, close and stop buttons.
Key switch test
facility.
Connection facility to the building fire alarm system, typically
requiring a normally open/normal closed volt free dry contact connection.
An
audible warning of the shutter closing.
Safety
The following features are provided as standard:
Audible
warning of the opening and closing of the shutter.
Variable time delay prior
to closing.
Options
Battery standby. Battery backup or alternative
powered systems to the standard range are available. Where a battery operated
system is provided, the battery system should normally be housed within the
control panel enclosure. The power output should give a minimum of 3 open/close
operations. Full details are available from Northern Doors design office on
request.
Fire Resistance
To BS 476: Part 22, Section 8: 4 hours
stability and integrity (tested by the Loss Prevention Council).
