Curtain
Constructed from galvanised cold rolled interlocking curved sections of suitable gauge, each alternate lath is fitted with a malleable steel endlock to prevent lateral movement.

Bottom Rail
The base of the curtain is fitted with a steel angle reinforcing rail of adequate size forming an inverted ‘T’.

Side Guides
Formed from cold rolled mild steel channel sections secured to the opening structure by continuous mild steel fixing angles.

Roller Assembly
Constructed from mild steel tube, mounted on bright steel shafts running in ball races, reduction drive gearing where applicable is by machine cut steel gears or chain drive to suit the size of the opening.

Endplates
The roller assembly is supported by mild steel endplates with mounting angles for fixing to the support structure. On one endplate, steel gears or chain drive are provided, when applicable, to provide drive to the barrel.

Roller Enclosure (optional extra)
Formed from galvanised pressed sheet metal to enclose the rear of the shutter barrel and curtain assembly.

Electric Operation (optional extra)
A totally enclosed reduction geared motor to suit the size of the shutter. Standard voltage: 415V, 3 phase, 50 Hz. 240V single phase is also available. The motor is equipped with an electromagnetic brake and limit switches. The motor position can be handed to suit the site conditions. An emergency handchain is provided for use in the event of a power failure.

Operation
Shutters up to a maximum 2800mm wide x 2800mm high can be supplied self coiling push up operation. Shutters over this size should be either mechanically geared using a handchain or handwheel or electrically operated. Handchain operation allows the shutter to be operated from one side only, handwheel operation allows operation from both sides. The handchain position can be handed to suit the site conditions.

Automatic Closing:
Fusible Link
All shutters are supplied with a fusible link designed to close the shutter automatically when local temperature exceeds 68°C.
Thermoelectric quartzoid bulb
An option similar to a fusible link, which is wired into a fire alarm system (24V DC.). Upon receipt of a signal from the fire alarm system, the bulb breaks thus closing the shutter.
Solenoid Release
Various arrangements are available, which when energised or de-energised, allow the shutter to self close. Normally works on a 24V DC. circuit: further details are available on request from Northern Doors.

Finish
All parts not galvanised are painted in one coat of protective primer (ex works), ready for site painting by others. Powder coat finish is available as an optional extra to BS 4800 and RAL 840 HR colour ranges. Stainless steel 304u finish is also available.

Fire Resistance
To BS 476: Part 22: 1987. 4 hours fire resistance (tested by the Loss Prevention Council). LPCP Approved and certified.
